Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Pro could finally fix what was wrong with the Plus
by Rajesh Pandey · Android PoliceSamsung appears all set to shake up its Galaxy lineup next year by introducing a Pro model. It will supposedly replace the Plus model with the Pro, which will pack many of the Ultra's best features in a smaller form factor. According to a new leak, one of them may even be the Galaxy S26 Ultra's standout feature: Privacy display.
In a post on Weibo, reliable leaker Digital Chat Station says Samsung is testing the Galaxy S27 Pro with a 6.47-inch screen featuring Privacy display. That display size will put the phone right in between the base S27 and Ultra, which are expected to feature 6.1-inch and 6.9-inch displays, respectively.
A 6.47-inch panel would make the S27 Pro larger than the Pixel 10 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro, both of which sport a 6.3-inch display.
More importantly, the addition of Privacy display would help the Galaxy S27 Pro live up to its Pro moniker and give it a better identity than the outgoing Plus variant, which has offered little beyond a larger screen and battery.
Due to this, the Plus models have long struggled to justify their existence and steep price tag. A smaller Pro model with Ultra-like features would be a much better move.
While there are privacy-oriented screen protectors, Privacy display stands out for its flexibility. It can automatically mask selected sensitive information on the display, such as passwords, credit card numbers, and incoming notifications, from prying eyes.
Galaxy S27 Pro could pack more Ultra-like features
Privacy display may not be the only Ultra feature making its way to the S27 Pro. Previous rumors indicate it could get the Ultra's 200MP primary camera sensor as well. The S Pen may be the only exception, as it's unlikely to be useful on such a small display.
A Galaxy S27 Pro would give Samsung more flexibility with its pricing strategy. It could downgrade the base S27 for better differentiation with the entire lineup, keeping the more premium and advanced features exclusive to the Pro and Ultra models.
This way, it can charge more for the latter two models, helping it absorb the increased memory and storage costs that are currently hurting its bottom line.
