Samsung's Spider-Man stunt just confirmed the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is real
by Chandra Steele · Android PoliceThe Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is real and we know because Spider-Man was spotted with it. If Jonah Jameson wants photographic evidence, well, we’ve got it.
Samsung posted a shot of Spider-Man using his web slinger to bring in the phone on X. You can view only a tiny corner of a silver slab, but it’s the most we’ve gotten directly from Samsung about the phone.
It says “The drop of the summer is almost within reach.” Of course there is also some promo for the release of the Samsung-sponsored movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31.
But even more importantly, there’s a link to a page to reserve the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.

A reservation but not information
The reservation page has the date and time of Galaxy Unpacked (July 22, 9 am EDT), and a Reserve Now button that gets you a $30 credit at pre-order and entry into a drawing to win one of 10 $500 Samsung gift cards.
A reservation for what, you might wonder. Samsung does not say, just that “[a] new shape unfolds.” Which is the closest we’re going to get of confirmation of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide from it before Galaxy Unpacked.
What we know so far
While we’re waiting for all to be revealed, here’s a rundown of the latest rumors about the device that we’ve seen.
It will:
- Measure 123.9 × 161.4 × 4.9mm when unfolded and 123.9 × 82.2 × 9.8mm when folded
- Look like two short S25 Edge units fused together
- Have just two cameras (a 200MP primary shooter and a 12MP or 50MP ultrawide)
- Feature a 5.4-inch cover display
- Use the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip as the regular Fold
- Pack a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support
Early word about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide has been enough for Android Police writer Jon Gilbert to say that it’s likely to be the first foldable he buys because for the first time he feels that a foldable model is not an overall downgrade from the best flagship phones.
