Leaked Galaxy Z Wide Fold specs reveal very minor upgrades
by Matthew Mountjoy · Android PoliceSamsung has been one of the major flagbearers of the foldable phone industry, with devices like the Z Fold, Z Flip, and the recently-released TriFold. However, with Apple rumoured to be working on a new foldable phone, there is more competition from the Korean smartphone giant in terms of the foldable phone market.
New details about the Z Wide Fold have surfaced
Samsung is reportedly working on a Galaxy Z Wide fold to directly take on Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone. A new post from the Chinese social media site Weibo has surfaced, providing more details about the phone's expected hardware, and it isn't, as expected, a big upgrade.
According to the report, the Galaxy Z Wide fold will come with a 7.6-inch display, making it slightly smaller than the 8-inch display on the Galaxy Fold 7. However, the wide-fold design reportedly provides a very different experience, making it feel almost like a tablet when unfolded.
As expected, the device is rumoured to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Similar to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, there might be a chance Samsung pivots to using its 2 nm Exynos 2600 chipset instead.
As noted by PhoneArena, Samsung reportedly won't exceed the 5000 mAh threshold for the Galaxy Z Wide Fold's battery. Reportedly, the phone will have a combined battery capacity of around 4,800 mAh, which is less than the 5,600 mAh of the Galaxy Z Trifold. With this in mind, the phone could probably still achieve "all-day battery life," but if this is true, it is still really disappointing.
Now, with rising RAM prices severely impacting some of the top phone manufacturers, there is the possibility that these specs could change, as mentioned earlier. After all, there has already been one sign of disappointment with the battery size, as there was hope the phone would use a battery similar in size to that of the TriFold.

There is also the possibility that the Foldable iPhone does not sell as well as expected, which would mean that the Galaxy Z Wide Fold could suffer the same fate as the S25 Edge. However, time will only tell with these two upcoming devices.
