Google TV can now troubleshoot and adjust settings through Gemini

by · Android Police

Google TV is gaining a new trick with Gemini once again taking the reins, making it easier to control your TV without a physical remote. While you can already ask your TV to find shows, play music, and control your smart home products, this new update will dive into your core TV settings, allowing you to make crucial adjustments to your video and audio settings.

It can do more than just the basics

Now, being able to make video and audio adjustments just using your voice is great, but this new update does more. In addition to the above, you'll be able to have Gemini troubleshoot your TV to find out what's wrong with it if you're having issues with the audio and video.

Furthermore, Google can adjust your TV settings to fit a certain mood or viewing experience. Google shares an example of this with the phrase “It’s movie night—help make this feel like a cinematic experience.” As you can imagine, this is going to be a pretty big deal.

Rather than spending time searching through tons of menus, you can just say what you're looking for, and Google Gemini will make it happen. Now, the only caveat about this news is that it will be exclusive to select Gemini-enabled TCL Google TVs for now.

Those in the US can expect to see this rolling out to TCL models: QM9K, X11L, QM9L, QM8L, and RM9L. If you have one of these TVs, you can head to the Settings menu to grab the new update. Google does state that it will be rolling out over the next few weeks.

Hopefully, this will roll out to more Google TV products in the near future. While Google TV has seen some notable updates over the past year, we have also seen some features brought to the TV that don't really matter.

Of course, the good thing is that Google TV is just the base experience, and you can build on it if you're looking for something a little different. We've covered several different launchers in the past, but Arc Launcher is the latest, and we found it to be pretty good.
