Why Pebble's approach to customer support is actually worth paying attention to

by · Android Police

I don't often run into issues with most of the products I buy, but when I do, I hope that the company or the people behind it will provide great support when it's needed. Luckily, that seems to be the case for Pebble, delivering a huge update on its blog, addressing upcoming shipments, software updates, hardware issues, and more.

Not many problems but there are free fixes

We'll break down all the important bits of the blog post, but the most important detail here is that Pebble is replacing units with cracked sceens, even those that are currently outside the 30-day warranty. Pebble goes on to explain the rigorous testing it does for its hardware, and that it's only received 51 reports of this type of issue, which is roughly 0.25% of the entire batch.

Of course, it's rare to see a company take things this seriously and move so quickly, but Pebble has and always will be community-driven, so this kind of movement is important. If you're having issues, you'll want to reach out to get support. The brand is small and mistakes can happen. But as we can see here, it's working to address them as soon as possible.

Preorders are going away for a bit

But this isn't a bad thing. Just a few months after initial preorders opened for the Pebble Time 2, the brand has managed to fulfill most of the orders. Pebble shares that the next shipment is going out at the end of July, and once all preorders are fulfilled, the Time 2 will just be available to order without a long wait. But you'll want to be quick because it won't be that way forever.

Software is a vital part

As you can imagine, software is a huge part of the Pebble experience. The community kept older Pebble watches alive when there was no official activity, and a small team helps make old and new hardware better. Pebble highlights that with shipped updates, it has managed to push battery life even further, with the Pebble 2 Duo reaching over 30 days, and the Pebble Time 2 sitting at around 21 days.

There are also thousands of apps to tinker with and an SDK to help folks build their own. The community is thriving, and you can be a part of it. There are a ton of things in the works, and even more that are already being worked on. So it's important to know that the experience will only get better as time passes.

What's going on with Pebble Round 2?

Just in case you didn't know, Pebble also has another watch it's trying to launch that looks more like a traditional timepiece thanks to its circular display. The brand is sharing that there's a pretty good chance that the Pebble Round 2 could start seeing mass production by the end of the month. Naturally, there are disclaimers, because plans can always change.

There are around 14,000 preorders for the watch. Pebble states that it will email those who preordered the Round 2 two weeks before it's ready to ship. So, if you've placed an order and have been patiently waiting, you'll want to keep an eye out for your emails.
