Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 leaks in full: Specs, price hikes, and launch date

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S12+ and Ultra are at most a few weeks away from being revealed, but at this point, there’s likely nothing left to show that won’t surprise. That’s because leaks have given us a thorough picture of what to expect.

The more things change

Yesterday Evan Blass posted side and rear views of the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra.

From the outside, nothing has changed from the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. So that means a fingerprint sensor that is still probably located in the screen, a weird and hard-to-use place for it, and the S Pen charger sitting at the upper right corner when the tablet is in landscape mode.

That look seemingly confirms renders surfaced by WinFuture a few days ago.

WinFuture showed the Galaxy Tab S12+ in both gray and silver. It has an aluminum body like the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and looks much the same, except with one less camera.

The specs that are expected

As for the processor, both the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12+ are rumored to use MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 processor.

The Galaxy Tab S12+ is expected to come with 12GB of RAM and options for 256GB or 512GB of storage. The Galaxy S12 Ultra is expected to have the same, as well as a model with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Each should get 2TB more storage thanks to microSD support.

WinFuture reported that the Galaxy Tab S12+ will have a 12.6-inch 2X Dynamic AMOLED display with a 2800 x 1752 resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is expected to have a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 2960 x 1848 resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Both the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra are expected to handle up to 45W wired charging. The Galaxy Tab S12+ will reportedly have a 10,600mAh battery, and the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra a 11,600mAh battery.

That aforementioned camera setup gives the Galaxy Tab S12+ a 12MP front camera and a 13MP rear camera and a 12MP front camera and the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra the same 12MP front camera and a 13MP main rear camera along with an 8MP ultrawide camera.

Sizewise, the Galaxy Tab S12+ should be 1.22 pounds. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra should be as much a behemoth as its predecessor, at the same 1.53 pounds and 5.1mm thick, making you once again question how portable the tablet really is.

Release date and possible pricing

Samsung hasn’t given details on the day that it will launch the Galaxy Tab S12 series beyond saying that it will be in the second half of this year. But both Evan Blass and WinFuture report Oct. 7 as the day we can expect all to be revealed.

An earlier leak about pricing puts the series above even iPads, which just faced a substantial price hike of their own.

The Wi-Fi edition of the Galaxy Tab S12+ with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will be $1,199.99. Upping storage to 512GB will cost $1,399.99. For the 5G version of the Galaxy Tab S12+ with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, it will be $1,349.99.

The pricing for the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is more of an unknown. WinFuture did not specify whether what it reported was for Wi-Fi or 5G, but for the 12GB RAM model with 256GB of storage, it will be $1,399.99. While the 12GB RAM model with 512GB of storage will cost $1,599.99. For 16GB of RAM with 1TB of storage, it should be $1,999.99.
