Hohoe United stands firm on decision to boycott Ghana Premier League

Hohoe United Football Club has reaffirmed its decision to boycott its Ghana Premier League fixtures, insisting the move stands regardless of any directive from the Ghana Football Association.

The Hohoe-based side failed to honour their Week 28 encounter against Eleven Wonders at the Swedru Stadium over the weekend, a match that was expected to mark their continued participation in the competition.

Administrative Manager Yussif Alhassan Uthman told Sporty FM that the club remains committed to its earlier decision to withdraw from the league and will not take part in any remaining matches.

According to him, the decision is final and not dependent on the FA’s response.

“It’s the club decision and not dependent on what the FA decides, and once the club has decided not to continue playing in the league, then we did not see the need to wait on any communication from the FA,” he stated.

He added that the club would not reverse its stance even if no official communication is issued.

“So what if the communication never comes? It means we are playing in a league that we have decided not to continue. For now, it’s the club's decision, and it still stands."

Uthman also stressed that Hohoe United has duly informed the football governing body of its position.

“We have communicated the same to the FA, and on our part, that’s what is required of us, and we have done just that.”

The development leaves the club’s future in the Ghana Premier League hanging in the balance, with the football community now awaiting an official response from the Ghana Football Association on the matter.
