Daredevil Pulled an Iron Man Move in DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN and Charlie Cox Explains Why
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantThe finale of Daredevil: Born Again dropped a moment that instantly lit up the internet, and now Charlie Coxis opening up about why it happened. Matt Murdock stepping into the light with a full-on identity reveal was a surprise, but it felt familiar in a very Marvel kind of way.
Fans didn’t take long to connect the dots. Social media lit up with comparisons to Tony Stark’s legendary mic-drop from Iron Man.
One post making the rounds perfectly summed it up with the side-by-side: “I am Daredevil” and “I am Iron Man.”
Cox leaned into the deeper meaning behind the choice, explaining that it ties directly into who Matt Murdock is at his core.
He said Matt “is someone who is always fighting for himself and for us, the collective, to be the better version of themselves.” That idea, that people striving to be better can actually shape the world around them, is what fuels the character.
That conviction comes with consequences. By the end of the season, Matt’s situation gets even more complicated as he ends up in Jail. Cox didn’t say much on that front, but he acknowledged the obvious hurdles.
There is, however, a path forward. Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, confirmed that Season 3 will include a time jump, likely around a year. That opens the door for a lot to change when we catch back up with Matt.
Meanwhile, Deborah Ann Woll is all in on the direction the story is heading. She described the reveal as “an exciting evolution,” pointing out that it gives the writers a ton of fresh ground to explore. This isn’t just a twist, it’s a full reset on how this story can operate moving forward.
