MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Standee Reveals Battle Cat in Full Armor and It Looks Awesome
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantCinemaCon always brings a few surprises, but this one hit that sweet spot for He-Man fans. A new standee for Masters of the Universe was on display, and it gave us our first real look at Battle Cat fully suited up in his battle armor. If you grew up watching the animated series, this design is going to feel instantly familiar.
The look of Battle Cat pulls straight from the classic cartoon aesthetic, from the bold green fur to the signature armored helmet and saddle. It leans into what made Battle Cat such an iconic part of the franchise, and the result is something that feels like it walked right out of Eternia.
The film puts a new spin on the origin of He-Man. The movie follows Prince Adam, played by Nicholas Galitzine, who has been away from Eternia for 15 years.
After crashing on Earth and losing the Sword of Power, he grows up disconnected from his true identity. When destiny finally calls him back, he returns to a world that has fallen under the control of Skeletor, played by Jared Leto.
From there, Adam has to piece together his past and embrace who he is meant to become. Along the way, he joins forces with Teela, played by Camila Mendes, and Man-At-Arms, played by Idris Elba, as he steps into the role of He-Man and prepares to face Skeletor head-on.
The rest of the cast lineup is packed with talent bringing these legendary characters to life. Morena Baccarin plays the Sorceress. James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley take on King Randor and Queen Marlena, and Alison Brie steps in as Evil-Lyn.
The supporting characters add even more flavor to the world, with Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, and Kristin Wiig voicing Roboto.
This new look at Battle Cat might just be a small preview, but it’s doing exactly what it needs to do. It reminds fans why they love this world and hints that the movie is paying attention to the details of the source material that matter.
Masters of the Universe hits theaters on June 5, and it’s going to be awesome to see Battle Cat in action on the big screen!
