First Trailer For The Anime-Inspired LOONEY TUNES GOKKO Series and It’s Wildly Different
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantWarner Bros. is taking one of its most iconic franchises in a direction fans probably didn’t see coming, and now we’ve got our first look at it.
A new trailer for Looney Tunes Gokko has arrived, giving us a taste of what happens when classic cartoon chaos meets a soft, anime-inspired makeover. It’s cute, colorful, and honestly kind of surreal seeing these characters reimagined this way.
For years, Warner Bros. has been exploring anime through different projects, and this latest move pushes that effort into unexpected territory.
Looney Tunes Gokko reinterprets the familiar crew from Looney Tunes in a much softer, more playful style. The word “Gokko” translates to “pretend” or “playing make-believe,” and that vibe is all over the trailer.
The characters look like they are geared toward a younger audience, leaning into charm instead of the usual explosive slapstick.
The official description reads: “The Looney Tunes are back in Gokko form! Catch all your favorites: Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Lola Bunny, Wile E. Coyote, and more in a new Looney Tunes Gokko series, coming soon to WB Kids!”
This isn’t the first time Warner Bros. has experimented with the “Gokko” concept either. A similar approach was used for Tom and Jerry, and there’s already a Scooby-Doo version in the pipeline. Clearly, the studio is building out a mini-universe of these kid-friendly reinterpretations.
At the same time, the Looney Tunes brand has been all over the place lately. On one end, there’s the long-delayed Coyote vs. Acme finally heading to theaters, starring Will Forte and John Cena, after originally being shelved.
Warner Bros. has also been deep in the anime space beyond its own characters. The studio has backed projects tied to Batman: Ninja and The Suicide Squad Isekai, while collaborating on well-known titles like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Mob Psycho 100. So this shift for Looney Tunes doesn’t come out of nowhere, it’s part of a larger push.
There’s still no confirmed release date beyond “soon,” but the trailer makes one thing clear. This isn’t just a visual tweak. It’s a full-on reimagining of what Looney Tunes can be.
Whether longtime fans embrace the softer, anime-inspired style or not, it’s definitely something different. And at this point, seeing Bugs Bunny step into new genres feels like the kind of experiment worth watching.
