WEBTOON and Warner Bros. Animation Expand Their Animated Slate With Four More Fun Webcomic Adaptations
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantWEBTOON Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation are going all in on webcomic adaptations, and they just revealed four more titles heading into animated development as part of their growing partnership.
The announcement was made during a panel at Web Summit Vancouver 2026, where WEBTOON Entertainment CFO David J. Lee and Warner Bros. Animation president Sam Register shared the latest lineup of projects currently in the works.
The partnership between the two companies was first announced last fall with plans to develop 10 WEBTOON titles for global audiences across genres like fantasy, romance, action, and comedy. With this newest reveal, the animated slate is getting even more interesting.
The latest WEBTOON series joining the lineup are The Wolf & Red Riding Hood by XUANN, Vampire Family by unfins, Sable Curse by Little Melon, and Snow and Briar (And The Mirror of Seven Sins) by M. Nires.
These projects join the previously announced adaptations of Down to Earth by Pookie Senpai, The Stellar Swordmaster by Hong Dae Ui, juno, and Q10, and Hardcore Leveling Warrior by Sehoon Kim.
What makes this slate so fun is how different each project feels. Warner Bros. Animation clearly isn’t sticking to one formula here. There’s horror-comedy chaos, supernatural romance, fantasy mystery, and twisted fairy tale energy all mixed together.
The Wolf & Red Riding Hood follows Anna, a high school student who suddenly starts transforming into a werewolf. The official description reads:
“High school student Anna wakes up one day to find that she’s super hairy, incredibly strong, craves meat all the time… and then she grows ears and a tail. Can she figure out how to stop herself from becoming a werewolf before the full moon?”
Then there’s Vampire Family, which leans into supernatural comedy with a social awkwardness twist:
“Natalia, a vampire desperate for a normal life, finally gets to go to school and sets her sights on befriending her seatmate, Evangelo. As she tries to navigate friendship in the human world, she discovers he’s not your typical student either.”
Sable Curse feels like it could become a really cool gothic fantasy series with mystery and magic woven into it:
“Terron is cursed to die at 19 unless she can find a way to break the spell. Her chance may come when her family escapes society and stays at a magical estate, where she uncovers secrets among its wealthy guests that could hold the key to lifting her deadly curse.”
Snow and Briar (And The Mirror of Seven Sins) might have the most intriguing setup of the bunch. It flips fairy tale expectations around in a fun way:
“Prince Snow, the fairest in the land, is married off to the towering Princess Briar by his scheming stepmother, who desperately wants him gone. Is Princess Briar just infatuated with him like everyone else, or does she have secrets of her own?”
At the moment, Warner Bros. Animation and WEBTOON haven’t revealed whether these projects will become animated films or series. Release dates also haven’t been announced yet.
One especially cool part of this partnership is that the original WEBTOON creators still own their intellectual property and will receive a share of the revenue generated from the adaptations.
That’s a huge win for creators as these stories continue making the jump from digital comics to mainstream animation.
WEBTOON has become a goldmine for adaptation material over the last few years, and Warner Bros. Animation seems to understand exactly why these stories connect with readers. They’re weird, emotional, funny, stylish, and built around characters fans get attached to fast.
If this partnership keeps rolling at this pace, there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing a lot more WEBTOON worlds making the leap to animation sooner rather than later.
