Jim Carrey Says He'd Return for a Sequel To THE MASK if The Idea Was Right

by · GeekTyrant

After saying he was retiring, Jim Carreyjumped back into action for the upcoming film Sonic The Hedgehog 3, and it sounds like he’s not really retired anymore. In fact, he’s open to starring in film projects that come his way, and if someone pitched The Mask sequel to him, he’d definitely consider it.

During a past interview with CB, Carrey was asked about the possibility of a The Mask sequel, and he responded: “Oh gosh, you know, it has to be the right idea.”

He added: “If somebody had the right idea, I guess… It’s not really about the money. I joke about the money… But I never know. You can’t be definite about these things.

“I said I’d like to retire, but I think I was talking more about power-resting. Because as soon as a good idea comes your way, or a group of people that you really enjoyed working with and stuff, it just – things tend to change.”

When previously talking about retiring, Carrey said: “Well, I’m retiring. Yeah, probably. I’m being fairly serious. It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I’m taking a break.”

I’ve always enjoyed Jim Carrey, so it’s good to know that he’s not really retiring and he’s open to other projects.

As far as a sequel to The Mask, that could be fun and interesting, but it doesn’t really need a sequel. That original film works perfect as a standalone movie. But, like Carrey said, if there’s a good idea for it, I’d watch it!
