STAR WARS Fans Push to Revive THE ACOLYTE After Surprise Return to Disney+ Top 10

The force might not be finished with The Acolyte just yet. After briefly popping back into the Top 10 on Disney+, the canceled Star Wars series has sparked a fresh wave of fan support, and the calls to bring it back are getting loud again.

The show climbed to the number nine spot on April 22, based on data from FlixPatrol, which tracks viewership trends across platforms. It ended up sharing the spotlight with another Star Wars show, Maul – Shadow Lord.

Set about a century before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, The Acolyte explored a darker corner of the Jedi era. The story followed Jedi Master Sol, played by Lee Jung-jae, as he investigated a string of unsettling crimes tied to a former apprentice. That apprentice was played by Amandla Stenberg, with Manny Jacinto stepping in as the mysterious Stranger.

The series landed with a good mix of positive and negative reactions, and Disney ultimately pulled the plug, pointing to viewership numbers as the deciding factor. But, it really ended up being more about the high cost of the show. It was actually the second most watched show on Disney+.

Since the cancellation, the campaign to save the show has stayed active, with the hashtag “RenewTheAcolyte” continuing to circulate across social media. Its recent climb back into the Top 10 has only added fuel to the fire.

"Shouldn’t have been canceled, give me my show back," wrote one fan, while another said it had "such a great story and memorable characters" and "deserves to be continued".

Others are pointing to specific elements that made the show stand out. "The fact is that, revisiting The Acolyte after nearly 2 years, it became clear that the series features the best lightsaber battle ever made in live action. It truly deserved a 2nd season."

There’s also a practical reason the show may be seeing a spike again. With Maul – Shadow Lord currently rolling out new episodes, the platform’s auto-play feature has been feeding viewers directly into The Acolyte afterward.

That kind of exposure can go a long way, especially for a series that already had a passionate fanbase waiting for any excuse to rally.

Whether Disney actually reconsiders its decision is still up in the air, but one thing’s clear. Fans aren’t letting this one fade quietly into the archives.
