David Corenswet Reacts to Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor Warsuit in MAN OF TOMORROW: “I’m Going to Rip My Knuckles Up”
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantDavid Corenswetalready went toe-to-toe with Lex Luthor in Superman, but apparently punching Nicholas Houltis about to become a much more painful experience.
The two actors will reunite for Man of Tomorrow, which puts Superman and Lex in the uncomfortable position of working together against a much bigger threat. This time, however, Lex is coming prepared for a fight with an impressive new warsuit, and Corenswet’s first reaction to seeing Hoult wearing it was amusing.
While talking about the next chapter of the DCU, Corenswet teased how Superman has changed since we last saw him.
"The character is a little more mature. They're going to go a little bit deeper. Not to mention all the crazy stuff, Nick Hoult in the warsuit.”
When Corenswet was asked what went through his head when Hoult showed up on set wearing the armor, he immediately considered the practical problem Superman was about to face. "He's going to be hard to fight. I’m going to rip my knuckles up punching you."
Lex’s new green warsuit has already been revealed in an image shared byJames Gunn, and it looks considerably more intimidating than the business suits Hoult wore while tormenting Superman in the previous film.
The armor also shares some visual similarities with the gear worn by the Raptors in Superman, although Lex’s version is much flashier.
Superman and Lex will have bigger problems than beating each other senseless in Man of Tomorrow. The film will introduce Brainiac to the DCU, with Lars Eidinger playing the highly intelligent alien villain. Brainiac’s obsession with collecting and bottling civilizations for study gives Superman and Lex a pretty good reason to put their differences aside, at least temporarily.
They’ll also have some help. Aaron Pierre is set to appear as John Stewart following Lanterns, while Xolo Maridueña will return as Blue Beetle. There’s also the possibility of Wonder Woman entering the picture, with Andor star Adria Arjona rumored for the role.
That makes Man of Tomorrow a much bigger DCU gathering, but the Superman and Lex relationship remains one of its most interesting ingredients. Watching these two enemies reluctantly fight on the same side should be fun.
Man of Tomorrow is set to hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
