MAN OF TOMORROW Rumor Says Superman Will Wear Three Different Suits, Including Space Armor

Superman may be getting a serious wardrobe upgrade for his next adventure. According to a new rumor, David Corenswet will wear at least three different Superman costumes inMan of Tomorrow, and one of them sounds like it was built specifically for taking the Man of Steel beyond Earth.

We haven't learned much about the sequel so far, though set photos have shown Superman battling Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor, who is suited up in his massive War Suit on the streets of Metropolis. Now, DC Film News claims Superman himself will have multiple looks throughout the movie.

According to the report, "one of them is white, possibly the space/armor suit, and apparently it stores solar energy."

If accurate, that's a pretty cool addition to Superman's arsenal. The description immediately brings to mind the specialized suit Superman wore in Superman: The Animated Series, and with Brainiac entering the picture, Clark having gear designed for space travel makes plenty of sense.

It also raises an interesting question about where the suit comes from. It could be Kryptonian technology stored inside the Fortress of Solitude, or perhaps Lex builds it as part of his unlikely partnership with Superman.

The rumor also claims Superman will wear "a short-sleeved capeless suit," which sounds similar to the stripped-down Superman look from Grant Morrison's Action Comics run. That costume gave Clark a much more casual appearance with a T-shirt-style top rather than his traditional cape and uniform.

The third Superman suit is reportedly the costume we've already seen in set photos, which features some noticeable changes from his previous appearance, including longer hair and a larger chest emblem.

Of course, Superman's wardrobe isn't the only thing generating speculation around Man of Tomorrow. Fans have been throwing around plenty of theories about surprise DC characters appearing in the movie, but writer and director James Gunn has tried to temper those expectations.

Gunn said, "What secret characters? It's [a] movie about Lex and Clark. People shouldn't expect substantial amounts of other characters."

He continued, "When I say substantial amounts, I mean both the amount of new characters and especially the time onscreen of characters who weren't core characters from Superman (well, other than Brainiac)," adding, "Things have been blown way out of proportion, and most stuff is just dead wrong."

What we do know is that Man of Tomorrow will put Superman and Lex Luthor in the uncomfortable position of working together against Brainiac, whose arrival threatens Metropolis and the rest of the planet.

Seeing Clark and Lex forced onto the same side should make for a fun dynamic, especially if Lex ends up contributing some of the technology Superman needs to fight Brainiac.

Gunn is writing and directing the film, with Corenswet returning as Clark Kent/Superman alongside Hoult as Lex Luthor. Lars Eidinger will play Brainiac, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl.

Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard, Sinqua Walls, and Adria Arjona are also part of the cast. Arjona's role remains a mystery, with speculation pointing toward Wonder Woman. Eva De Dominici has also been linked to the film.

Man of Tomorrow hits theaters July 9, 2027.
