Trailer for Paramount+’s Psychological Drama GIRL TAKEN Sees a Twisted Abduction Story Unfold

Paramount+’s has released a trailer for its upcoming psychological drama Girl Taken, and it doesn’t take long to make viewers understand that this series is going to be unsettling in all the right ways.

The six-part thriller stars Alfie Allen, Jill Halfpenny, Tallulah Evans, and Delphi Evans, and it’s based on Hollie Overton’s novel Baby Doll, the series was previously known under that title before being rebranded as Girl Taken.

The story centers on twin sisters Lily and Abby, whose quiet rural English town is rocked when Lily is abducted by Rick Hansen, a trusted local teacher played by Allen. Lily’s disappearance shatters her family and community, especially her mother Eve, portrayed by Halfpenny.

After enduring years of abuse in captivity, Lily manages to escape, only to discover that returning to the world doesn’t mean the trauma is over.

The trailer leans hard into the psychological horror of the situation. We hear Rick calmly tell Lily, “This is going to be good… You’re going to learn to be good,” as Eve pleads publicly for information about her missing daughter.

Rick even inserts himself into the search, presenting a helpful face to the community while the editing cuts sharply to the truth of what’s happening behind closed doors.

Later, the mask fully slips as he whispers, “Going to behave now… Baby doll,” while stroking Lily’s face as she lies chained to a bed. It’s deeply uncomfortable, and Allen looks terrifyingly convincing in the role.

Alongside the leads, the supporting cast includes Vikash Bhai, Niamh Walsh, Levi Brown, Victoria Ekanoye, Holly Atkins, and Kiran Krishnakumar.

Girl Taken looks like a psychological drama that’s going to get under viewers’ skin. Paramount+ may have a dark standout on its hands when the series arrives early next year.

The show is set to premiere on Paramount+ on January 8, 2026.
