David Corenswet Reveals How Superman Will Change in MAN OF TOMORROW

David Corenswet’s Superman is growing up a little, but hopefully he isn’t losing the optimism that made fans connect with him in the first place.

One of the biggest DCU movies on the horizon is Man of Tomorrow. The sequel to 2025’sSuperman is set to hit theaters on July 9, 2027, with David Corenswet returning as Clark Kent.

There are already plenty of questions surrounding Man of Tomorrow. Fans are wondering who Adria Arjona will play, with Wonder Woman being a popular theory despite nothing being confirmed, and there’s speculation about whether the film could connect directly to Lanterns.

Now Corenswet has offered another interesting detail about where Superman himself is headed. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Corenswet teased that Clark won’t be exactly the same hero we met in Superman.

“The character is a little more mature. They’re going to go a little bit deeper.” He also teased some “crazy stuff” coming in the sequel, including Nicholas Hoult suiting up as Lex Luthor in his War Suit.

A more mature Superman makes sense. Time has passed, Clark has more experience under his belt, and the events of the first movie gave him plenty to process. The big question is what “more mature” actually means for this version of the Man of Steel.

One of the best things about Corenswet’s Superman was his youthful sincerity. This Clark believed in people, looked for the good in them, and held onto hope even when the world gave him reasons not to. That personality helped distinguish him from some of the more serious interpretations of Superman we’ve seen over the years.

Growing as a character doesn’t have to mean losing any of that. Clark can become more experienced and face more complicated situations while remaining the hopeful hero audiences embraced. Hopefully, Man of Tomorrow doesn’t mistake maturity for making Superman more stoic, cynical, or emotionally distant.

That would be especially strange considering what Clark already survived in Superman. Learning the truth about his biological parents could have completely shattered his view of himself, yet he came through that revelation without abandoning the values that define him. It would take something pretty extreme to suddenly turn this Superman into a pessimist.

There’s also more pressure on Man of Tomorrow after Supergirl disappointed at the box office earlier this summer. One underperforming movie doesn’t determine the future of an entire franchise, but another successful Superman film would certainly help reinforce the foundation of the DCU and show that the first movie’s success wasn’t a one-time thing.

That makes Clark’s characterization particularly important. Corenswet’s version of Superman already works, so there’s no need to reinvent him. Let him grow, challenge him, and put him through some crazy comic book insanity, especially with Lex Luthor running around in a War Suit, but keep the qualities that made this Superman so likable.
