Chris Evans Said He Returned for AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Because He Feels "Very At Home With the Role"
by Jessica Fisher · GeekTyrantWith Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU in very different capacities for Avengers: Doomsday, it’s interesting to hear their respective reasons for returning.
Downey was offered a completely new role after the death of Tony Stark/Iron Man, and Evans is ready to tie up the loose ends created by Steve Rogers after he traveled back in time to settle down with the love of his life and build a family.
But Evans has more personal reasons for returning, as he explained during a panel at Fan Expo Boston (via GamesRadar), where he said:
"I feel very at home with the role. I feel very not just comfortable, but precious. I care about the arc of all these characters, and we wouldn’t be doing it unless there was going to be a really interesting situation to put him in."
It seems that Steve Rogers’ “interesting situation” is seemingly at the center of the timeline issue that is bringing all these heroes together in their fight against Doctor Doom. It will be cool to see these heroes reunite onscreen, and meet so many newcomers.
Evans is set to appear in both Doomsday, in theatres on December 18th; and Avengers: Secret Wars, which is set for release on December 17, 2027.
