Marvel Fans Spot a Major Goof in SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY and You Won’t Be Able to Unsee It
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantHulk can smash just about anything, but apparently the floors in Spider-Man: Brand New Day can also fix themselves.
Marvel fans have zeroed in on a pretty funny continuity mistake during the movie’s big fight involving Spider-Man, the Punisher, and Hulk. It happens quickly enough that plenty of people probably missed it in theaters, but once you know where to look, it’s hard to ignore.
The moment comes during a fight that puts Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher up against the savage version of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. At one point, Hulk slams his foot down and smashes up the floor beneath him.
Then the camera cuts, and apparently somebody called the world’s fastest repair crew. In the following shot, Spider-Man pulls the Punisher across the floor as Frank Castle fires at Hulk, but the damage Hulk just caused appears to have vanished.
The floor looks intact again, creating a continuity error that Marvel fans quickly picked up on and started roasting online.
Once the clip made its way around social media, Marvel fans immediately started picking it apart. Industry scooper @MyTimeToShineH shared the moment on X with a short reaction: “OMG it’s real,”
Another X account, @Viral_Vibe_, pointed directly at the disappearing damage: “This silly mistake from Marvel is really unexpected. How the floor automatically fixed after Hulk smash.”
That observation opened the door for people to start having fun with Marvel’s apparently self-healing architecture. @yahyaiqbal40785 joked: “Hulk really smashed the floor, and Marvel said, ‘Don’t worry, it’ll fix itself.'”
They followed that up with: “Movie magic at its finest.” @Filmi_fiedGuy also joined the conversation, writing: “Fans are making fun of Marvel for not fixing this VFX mistake in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
Considering the size of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the enormous productions involved with these movies, fans understandably scrutinize practically every frame.
When Spider-Man, Hulk, and the Punisher are tearing into each other on the big screen, somebody somewhere is going to notice if a busted floor magically fixes itself.
Mistakes like this are hardly unique to Marvel. Massive blockbuster productions involve countless shots, edits, visual effects, reshoots, and moving pieces, so continuity errors occasionally make it into finished movies. The bigger problem is that once somebody spots one, it becomes almost impossible to stop looking at it.
That’s exactly what happened here, and now that Marvel fans have pointed it out, good luck watching that Spider-Man: Brand New Day fight without checking the floor.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently playing in theaters.
