Genndy Tartakovsky’s HEIST BROTHERS Officially Lands Series Order at Adult Swim
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantFans of Genndy Tartakovsky have another animated project to get excited about. The legendary creator has officially scored a series order from Adult Swim for his latest original show, Heist Brothers, a project that first surfaced under the title Heist Safari.
The road to the series actually started last year when Tartakovsky pitched the idea directly to Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen during a live presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. It was an unusual way to sell a show, but it paid off!
Last year, we learned that Heist Safari was in development. Now the project has officially been greenlit under its new title, Heist Brothers, and it sounds like exactly the kind of wild animated comedy you'd expect from Tartakovsky.
Described as a “high-octane animated action comedy,” the series follows three frog brothers who decide to rob a bank. The logline continues: “Seems simple enough, but the execution is special as !#&$??!!!!.”
The series will consist of 10 episodes running approximately 15 minutes each and is currently in production at Cartoon Network Studios.
Tartakovsky has been making the rounds at Annecy again this year, where he's also been talking about several upcoming projects, including Prime Video's Conan the Barbarian. His career has produced some of animation's most beloved titles, including Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Hotel Transylvania, and the animated feature Fixed.
Between Heist Brothers and everything else Tartakovsky has in the works, animation fans have plenty to look forward to. If this new series delivers the same creativity and visual energy that have defined his career, Adult Swim may have another awesome animated hit on its hands.
