Robert Downey Jr. Teases Connection Between His and Chris Evans' Characters In AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY

by · GeekTyrant

We are just four months away from the release of Avengers: Doomsday, and now that Comic-Con has passed, we might not get much more info on the film until screenings begin.

But Robert Downey Jr. is giving us a little tease to hint about the storyline between his character, Doctor Doom, and Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers/ Captain America.

In a recent interview with Good Morning America at last weekend’s D23 event, Downey discussed his experience working with Evans and teased a possible connection between their characters. He said to Evans:

“I’ll say this, getting to know you better, all of our history, because, you know, he’s … You’re a legit dude, and you don’t say yes just ’cause you can. It has to feel right. And I think that in Doomsday, what, what happens with our, this key relationship is so exciting and unexpected and beautiful.”

Evans was also asked about his feelings on returning to the franchise, to which he replied, “Incredible. Yeah. I mean, in a way, it kind of feels like we never left. You know what I mean? I mean, it feels like a lifetime ago, but also like it was yesterday.”

We know it’s Steve Rogers’ actions of going back in time to live with Peggy Carter and start a family that was a key event in kicking off this timeline mess, so it makes sense that he will be front and center with Doom, but it is interesting that it sound like their connection will be “unexpected and beautiful.” We will just have to wait and see how that all plays out.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theatres on December 18th, and tickets are now on sale.
