Ryan Murphy Says He "Just Finished the Script" For a GLEE Reboot and the Original Cast is "Very Enthusiastic"

TV creator Ryan Murphy has made so many hit series over the years, but one that has remained a fan favorite over the years is the high school musical drama Glee. And now, Murphy has officially weighed in on the rumors of a series reboot, revealing that there’s a finished script.

Murphy recently told Entertainment Tonight, “Well, funny you ask, ’cause I just finished the script an hour ago. So, we have a script. Brad [Falchuk], Ian [Brennan] and I, who wrote all the first two seasons, have written something. I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members. It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea.”

The news comes just a week after Lea Michele, who played Rachel Berry for all six seasons of the musical comedy, said that she’d be happy to return for a reboot. Speaking with E! News, she said, “I love ‘Glee.’ I will always love ‘Glee.’ I love Ryan Murphy. It just holds such a special place in my heart for me… I will follow Ryan wherever he goes.”

Speaking of the reboot, Murphy noted that although there is a script, “nobody’s read it.” “So I don’t know, we’ll see,” he continued. “I vowed to myself that I wanted to write a couple of them to see what people think, particularly the cast, ’cause we were very close when we were making it.”

Glee first premiered in 2009, and in addition to Michele, the show starred Corey Monteith, Naya Rivera, and Mark Salling, who have each passed away. Dianna Agron, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Heather Morris, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Amber Riley, and Jayma Mays are series originals who may be up for a return.
