People in Plymouth are being encouraged to take the train from Plymouth to Bere Ferrers on Saturday, October 5, for the annual Bere Apple Fest.

The festival is held in the centre of the picturesque riverside village of Bere Ferrers and will run from 1pm until 5pm. It will feature a host of guest experts, demonstrations, the famous apple pie and children’s apple modelling competitions.

All activities will take place under canvas outside the church hall in the village and entry into the festival is free. Rebecca Catterall of the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership, said: "This great little festival really is a showcase of all thing’s apple with everything from advice on caring for your own apple trees through to the famous apple pie competition and all just a short, scenic journey from Plymouth.”

Bere Ferrers is twenty minutes from Plymouth by train and the Apple Fest is a short walk from the station. Trains leave Plymouth station at 12:24pm and 2:24pm, with return trains from Bere Ferrers at 3:40pm and 6pm.

Trains also call at Devonport, Keyham and St Budeaux Victoria Road and, by request, also at Dockyard station.

An Off Peak Day Return Fare from Plymouth to Bere Ferrers is £6.40 adult, £3.20 child (5-15 years). Groupsave allows groups of 3 to 9 adults to travel together and receive a third off Adult Off Peak fares.
