EPL: ‘So disappointing’ – Morrison surprised by David Raya’s errors in Arsenal 3-0 defeat to Brighton

Former Crystal Palace star, Clinton Morrison has expressed his surprise at the lapses demonstrated by Arsenal goalkeeper, David Raya during their unexpected 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend.

Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the campaign as they encountered difficulties against a methodically organised Brighton outfit.

The Gunners produced a below-par performance throughout the encounter as the Seagulls proved to be the superior side at the Amex Stadium.

Goals from Pascal Gross, Charalampos Kostoulas and Chema Andres secured a 3-0 victory for the hosts.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Morrison said he was surprised by David Raya’s uncharacteristic performance.

Morrison said, via Metro UK: “I’ve never seen them this bad, but listen, you can have games like this. They’ve started the season ever so well and I think you’ve got to give more credit to Brighton. But they were disappointing, Arsenal, the way they defended.

“It’s a bit of a reality check for them. It’s not going to be easy to retain the Premier League and it’s a hard place to go, Brighton. It’s always difficult and they’re a good team with a good manager.

“Even David Raya, who has demonstrated exceptional form, did commit several critical errors. It was quite atypical, particularly regarding his passing accuracy and similar aspects. Disappointing.”

Mikel Arteta and his squad enter the international break in second place in the Premier League standings, three points behind Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City.
