Teenager dies after falling from e-scooter in Carlow Town

A MALE IN his late teens has died following a road traffic incident in Carlow town yesterday evening.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports that two males had fallen from an e-scooter while travelling on Carpenters Way in Carlow town shortly after 8.30pm. 

One of the males, in his late teens, sustained serious injuries and was transported to St Luke’s Hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The second, an adult male in his late teens, was medically assessed at the scene and did not require immediate hospital treatment.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed incident to contact them. They also ask that anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam footage) from Carpenters Way around the time of the collision make this available to investigating Gardaí.

The scene remains preserved for forensic examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road is currently closed with local diversions in place.
