Another week of sunshine ahead as temperatures to hit 25 degrees

by · TheJournal.ie

SUMMER WEATHER IS set to continue across much of the country this week, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 25 degrees.

While cloud, mist and patchy drizzle will linger at times in the west and northwest, Met Éireann says the warmest conditions will be found in the south and east, where sunshine is expected to become more widespread as the week progresses.

This afternoon will start off cloudy for many, with mist and patches of light rain or drizzle in parts of Connacht and Ulster.

However, sunny spells are forecast to develop across much of Munster and Leinster.

Temperatures today will range from around 15 degrees in the northwest to a warm 24 degrees in the south and southeast.

Tonight will remain largely cloudy, with patchy drizzle continuing in western and northern counties, while elsewhere it will stay mainly dry with some clear spells.

Monday is expected to follow a similar pattern, with cloud and light drizzle in the west and north gradually clearing back towards coastal areas as sunny spells spread across the country.

The brighter weather is then set to become more widespread from Tuesday onwards.

Met Éireann says Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly dry, with sunshine extending from the southeast across much of the country after a cloudy start.

Temperatures are forecast to reach between 18 and 25 degrees on both days, with the warmest weather expected in Leinster and Munster. Atlantic coastal counties are likely to remain a little cooler.

The settled spell is expected to continue into Thursday, although scattered outbreaks of rain may affect parts of Connacht, Ulster and Munster early in the day before giving way to further warm sunny spells elsewhere.

Highs of up to 25 degrees are again forecast for southern and southeastern counties, while northwestern areas are expected to remain cooler at around 17 or 18 degrees.
