Renewed appeal for information over 1986 murder of Terence McKeever
by Jane Moore, https://www.thejournal.ie/author/jane-moore/ · TheJournal.ieA RENEWED APPEAL for information has been issued about the murder of a man in Co Armagh 40 years ago.
The remains of 30-year-old Terence ‘Terry’ McKeever were found close to Mullaghduff Bridge in Cullyhanna on 16 June 1986.
Mr McKeever, originally from Armagh but living in Dublin, was the managing director of a family electrical contracting business based both north and south of the border.
The electrical company was involved in large contract works north and south of the border, which included army barracks, garda and RUC stations.
Gardaí believe that he was abducted and fatally shot.
Mr McKeever left his home at Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge in a champagne-coloured BMW 735i with the registration FIB 735.
He left at 6.50am on 16 June 1986 and is believed to have travelled north along the N2 from Dublin.
It is believed that he was abducted in the vicinity of the Monaghan/south Armagh border area, or somewhere during his intended route which would have included the N2 from Dublin, passing through Slane, Ardee, Monaghan and continuing to Armagh town.

The van had been stolen in Dundalk on 21 May 1986.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone with any information they feel might be relevant to the investigation to get in contact.
They are particularly interested in information on Terence McKeever’s movements on the morning of 16 June 1986, the movements of his car and the theft and storage of the Toyota Liteace van or the investigation.
“With the passage of time, some person may now be in a position to provide information to investigating Gardaí that they could not provide at the time, or maybe some person who did provide information at the time may be now in a position to provide further information,” a spokesperson said.
Anyone with information can contact Ardee Garda Station on 041 685 3222, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
