‘Pleasant’ day in store but rain and further unsettled weather to come next week

WE ARE IN for what’s been described by forecaster Met Éireann as a “pleasant” day but unsettled weather is in store for next week.

Mist and fog patches quickly cleared this morning and means we are in store for a dry day with plenty of sunshine.

Met Éireann said there’s “just the chance that a little coastal mist and fog may encroach onto coastal parts of the east and south from time to time”.

However, temperatures today will rise to a “pleasant” 12 to 18 degrees, warmest inland.

It will remain dry tonight with long clear spells, though becoming a little cloudier in the northwest, with areas of mist and fog forming and with a touch of frost locally.

The mist and fog will generally clear quickly tomorrow morning and it’ll be another dry day for most, with spells of sunshine, though a little cloudier in coastal parts of the northwest.

There’ll be highest temperatures of 11 to 17 degrees tomorrow.

On Saturday night, some patches of mist and fog will form and cloud will increase from the northwest overnight, with a little light rain and drizzle starting to move south-eastwards.

Sunday will start cloudy for a time with a little rain and drizzle moving southeastwards.

However, bright or sunny spells will extend from the northwest to most parts through the morning and afternoon, with highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees.

Sunday night will also be dry with a mix of cloud and clear spells.

Next week will also start mostly dry, with some hazy spells of sunshine, though it’ll become increasingly cloudy with some light rain and drizzle moving into northwestern parts later.

On Monday night, it’ll be breezy and cloudy, with outbreaks of rain moving south-eastwards to most parts.

The unsettled weather then begins from Tuesday, with outbreaks of rain, which will be heavy at times.

Met Éireann advises that “fairly widespread showers, some of hail” will follow, with the chance of the rumble of thunder.

The forecaster says Tuesday will be a “blustery day” with highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees, with strong to near gale force and gusty in western coastal parts.

Tuesday night will continue rather windy and showery, with some of the showers turning wintry and with a chance of thunder.

Another windy and showery day is in store Wednesday and some of the showers will be heavy, with a chance of thunder.

Some showers will be wintry too, especially through the morning and again later, though there will be some sunny spells also.

Highest temperatures on Wednesday of just 5 to 9 degrees, but feeling colder with the added wind chill from fresh to strong and gusty northwest winds.

Moving to Thursday, there’ll be some frost and ice in parts to begin the day.

There’ll still be scattered showers around, some of which will be wintry, but overall ,Met Éireann forecasts a good deal of dry weather with sunny spells in highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees.

Looking further still, Met Éireann says it looks like the weather will be mixed and changeable over the following few days, with some rain and drizzle from time to time, but some dry and sunnier spells too.

It’s also likely to continue on the cool side with some frost.
