Crazy Taxi: World Tour heads to Japan for its third map

Sega has revealed that Japan is the setting for the third map featured in Crazy Taxi: World Tour, the decades removed revival of the arcade classic taxi driving series.

Japan joins Germany and San Francisco as the third of five maps and locations that will feature in the single-player World Tour. As with those maps, it looks to blend the breadth of what you can find within the country, going from the busy streets of a modern city and then venturing out to the more historic neighbourhoods. The map also features iconic shops including ICHIRAN, Kani Doraku and SHIBUYA109, and of course, you’ll be asked to visit the most important icon in Japanese gaming… SEGA!

We went hands on with the game back at Gamescom, saying in our preview “Crazy Taxi was always a barmy game. It’s a non-stop barrage on the senses for a few minutes at a time, your passengers constantly yammering in delight or dismay as you weave through traffic and find the best route to their destination, and you’ve got The Offspring playing in the background like it’s 1999 all over again.”

Not much has changed, thematically, but this game does feature a set open world driving mode you can explore in and online multiplayer. It also won’t be coming to Dreamcast, but to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC when it launches in 2027.
