Peak climbs onto consoles next week, and a PS5 physical release coming in December
by Stefan L · tsaFollowing on from its final big content update in August, Landfall and Aggro Crab have announced that Peak is coming to consoles next week on 22nd October, with a PS5 physical edition following on 9th December. Nice!
Peak is launching across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 digitally, with full cross-play between consoles and the back to the Steam original.
The physical release is only coming to PS5, though, coming in partnership with Skybound Games. This is now available for pre-order, priced at $19.99 US / €19.99 / £14.99, and comes with some unique perks. Obviously you can pick it up and hold it close, but it also includes a printed Scout Passport filled with stickers. Best of all, though, the disc also comes with an additional digital code for the game – a Buddy Code, which you can gift to a friend so that they can play with you.
Peak’s final update, The Final Ascent arrived in August, with the combined team behind the game having previously spoken about a desire to wrap up the game’s content so they could work on new projects, much to the disappointment of the friendslop hit’s fans.
The Final Ascent was a pretty chunky update, though, adding the two new biomes of Gloom and The Citadel, which will cycle in and out as pairing with Caldera and The Kiln.
We dished out our Best Multiplayer award in 2025, with Miguel saying, “When Lethal Company exploded in popularity back in 2023, it triggered a major shift in the culture around multiplayer gaming – competitive argument-simulators like Jackbox and Among Us remain popular, but a new crop of games focused on chaotic co-op shenanigans emerged out of the woodwork. PEAK represents not only the best of that new genre we playfully refer to as “friendslop” – it represents the most fun you can have with a new multiplayer game this year, and it’s a major achievement in online gaming.”
