IndianOil truck drivers go on strike demanding streamlining of loading system at Tiruchi terminal
The drivers are demanding that the issues in e-lock of the vehicles to be set right, fast issue of e-pass and allow loading of vehicles even during lunch hour at the terminal
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduA section of truck drivers associated with IndianOil’s Tiruchi terminal at Vazhavanthankottai on the outskirts of the city resorted to strike on Thursday in support of their demands causing temporary disruption in fuel loading.
Police sources said around 80 drivers went on strike demanding, among other things, the issues in e-lock in all trucks to be “set right,” issue of e-pass without any delay, and allowing the vehicles to be loaded without lunch interval.
Meanwhile, a press release from IndianOil said a section of IndianOil Tank truck drivers associated with IndianOil’s Tiruchi terminal at Vazhavanthankottai were not cooperating with usual operations on Thursday.
“IndianOil reassures the public that this temporary disruption would not affect the availability of petrol and diesel at any of its retail outlets in the Tiruchi area. IndianOil has taken steps to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply. With meteorological warnings of an approaching cyclone, adequate fuel stocks have been positioned at all IndianOil petrol pumps across the region to meet any surge in demand,” the release added.
