Modi worships those uncared for: Prime Minister in Bihar
Mr. Modi also announced that Bhagwan Birsa Munda Janjatiya Guarav Diwas would be celebrated in the country for the next whole year
by Amarnath Tewary · The HinduPrime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bihar for the second time on Friday (November 15, 2024) to celebrate Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas on 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda and also to launch multiple development projects worth ₹6,650 crore, mostly for tribal welfare and development in Jamui.
Earlier on November 13, PM Modi had visited Darbhanga to lay the foundation stone for All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), second AAIMS hospital in Bihar.
“Those whom no one care for, Modi worships them”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on the occasion in an oblique reference to the tribal population. He also spent half an hour in tribal haat (market) area to look at things made by tribal people at the event organised at Ballopur ground in Khaira of Jamui district. Jamui district shares a border with the neighbouring tribal State of Jharkhand where the second phase of polling for the State Assembly is scheduled to be held on November 20. The first phase of elections there had taken place on November 13.
While listing NDA government’s welfare measures and development works for the tribal population of the country, PM Modi added that “it is good fortune of the NDA government to make a tribal woman Draupadi Murmu as President of India. Nitish Kumar Ji [Bihar Chief Minister] had also appealed and endorsed wholeheartedly to vote for Ms. Murmu’s candidature”, he added.
“Tribal welfare has been NDA government’s priority”, Mr. Modi said while adding, “NDA government has enhanced budget five-times for tribal welfare in the country”.
Mr. Modi also announced that Bhagwan Birsa Munda Janjatiya Guarav Diwas would be celebrated in the country for the next whole year.
Earlier, PM Modi issued a commemorative coin with a denomination of ₹150 on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and a postal stamp of ₹5 in memory of the tribal leader too was released on the occasion.
Mr. Modi listed several development works and welfare measures related with tribal growth and development in the country. He also launched several project related with road, housing, hospital and schools for tribal population across the country.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arleker and several top state BJP leaders too were present on the occasion.
Mr. Kumar, though, reiterated that he would not make (political) flip-flop again. “Earlier, there has been mistake by us twice but now we’ll not go neither here nor there… we’ll remain here [NDA] forever”, asserted Mr. Kumar whose party Janata Dal (United) had switched political loyalty from BJP-led NDA to RJD-led mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) twice and remained in power with Mr Kumar as chief minister of the state since November 2005.
