Event on financial literacy and cyber security will be organised as part of GVL Maha Sankranti celebrations in Visakhapatnam on January 12, former Rajya Sabha member says

An event on financial literacy and cyber security will be organised on January 12 as part of the GVL Maha Sankranti celebrations, according to a release here on Saturday. The event will focus on the solutions against the cybercrimes, which are on rise in Visakhapatnam and educating the public on preventive measures, said former Rajya Sabha member G.V.L. Narasimha Rao.

Mr. Rao said that while ₹115 crore was looted by cyber criminals in Visakhapatnam last year, in the first 10 days of the new year, ₹10 crore was already lost by common people.

“To create awareness among the public and to prevent such cybercrimes, we are organising the event on financial literacy and cyber security at Andhra University Engineering College grounds. The event will educate people and give them guidance on how to protect themselves from cyber criminals, in the presence of senior officials of RBI, major banks and other financial institutions,” Mr. Rao said.
