American tourist visits Wetherspoons for the first time - and is stunned by one thing

An American tourist was left gobsmacked by something "ridiculous" at the renowned Wetherspoons pub during his UK visit.

Joel, the YouTuber behind the ItsJps channel, known for his UK-centric content, recently journeyed to York.

In a bid to embrace a quintessential British experience, Joel ventured into a Wetherspoons for the first time to discover what the "wonderful establishment has to offer".

While browsing the menu, Joel was taken aback by the cost of a meal.

He remarked: "To get a classic curry with an alcoholic drink is £10.60. That right there is ridiculous, in my opinion. I have to see what...obviously, it's not going to be like the best curry you've ever had."

He added: "I mean, that's a deal. A meal and a drink for 10 quid. In today's economy, that sounds pretty good."

After his visit to the popular British pub chain, Joel reflected on his experience: "Alright guys; I've finished up with my first Wetherspoons experience. Overall, I enjoyed it.

"I just had a couple drinks there so it wasn't much to judge honestly. There was no music; there was no TVs.

"There was nothing in there but three slot machines so definitely geared towards profit from an entertainment perspective, but overall, I thought it was really nice."

This isn't Joel's inaugural trip to the British Isles; he's crossed the Atlantic before, only to be surprised by certain elements of life in Britain.

In addition to being impressed by the UK's public transport, Joel was equally taken with the pubs, which he described as community "focal" points.

Speaking on the matter, he said: "The pub is a place you can just go and talk to your neighbour, get to know your neighbour and just enjoy a pint. It's not really about the partying as much as it is the sense of community and having the Sunday roast and things like that."

Joel also observed a trend among his peers in the form of widespread vaping, yet on a brighter note, he expressed a particular fondness for the popular Tesco Meal Deal, enjoying it daily during his stay in the UK.
