I'm A Celebrity viewers say the first bushtucker trial of the new series will 'go down in history' after McFly star Danny Jones endured a 'terrifying' moment.

The ITV show returned to screens on Sunday evening, much to the delight of fans who have praised bosses for choosing one of the 'best ever' line ups for this year's series.

The first episode saw the 10 new celebrities pair up to battle it out to become the first camp leaders. N-Dubz singer Tulisa and Corrie actor Alan Halsall claimed the titles and were given the task of choosing who would take on the first trial that same evening.

The pair chose singer and guitarist Danny, who is also a judge on The Voice, and former boxer Barry McGuigan. The duo were locked inside chambers as they had to find keys for the correct locks to get hold of stars, all while being covered by huge snakes.

At one point, Danny complained to hosts Ant and Dec that one of the creatures had ventured inside his clothes. "I've got a snake up my shorts. Guys, I have got a snake up my shorts," he exclaimed. Ant quipped back: "There's no need to brag." Danny started to scream as Ant and Dec struggled to hold in their laughter.

The campmate managed to finish the challenge, bagging five stars. Once the trial was over, Danny unzipped his shorts to reveal a large snake curled up on his crotch.

As Danny screamed out at the sight of it, one of the animal handlers grabbed the snake and pulled it out of his shorts by its tail. Ant called out "what a start to the series," as Dec exclaimed: "Wow".

Viewers at home said the incident would go down in I'm A Celebrity history as they likened it to an infamous moment from the 2011 series when Olympian Fatima Whitbread got a cockroach stuck up her nose.

"A SNAKE GOING UP DANNY'S SHORTS IS UP THERE WITH FATIMA'S SITUATION, IAC HISTORY!!," one viewer wrote on social media platform X. Another said: "First trial, and I guarantee there will not be a better one this series. Danny and the trouser snake was comedy gold , one of the best moments ever!"

A third wrote: "Danny Jones getting an actual trouser snake will go down in history like Fatima Whitbread getting that cockroach stuck up her nose." Another said: "That’s an instant iconic, all-timer of an #ImACeleb moment!"

Viewers were left in shock at the size of the snake. One said: "Danny’s a braver man than I- that snake reveal was insane," while another commented: "THE SIZE OF THE SNAKE THEY JUST PULLED OUT OF DANNYS SHORTS OH MY GOD."

Fans were impressed that Danny managed to hold it together and complete the trial. "Danny should be excluded from every trial after that one," one said. "Literally had a snake sat on his manhood! I’d have been out of there!" Another added: "That snake in Danny’s shorts was hilarious yet terrifying."
