Coronation Street fans 'figure out' Joel Deering's real killer - and it's not Swain, Ronnie or Mason

Coronation Street fans think they have 'figured out' who is really behind Joel Deering's death as they threw a new name into the list of possible suspects as Weatherfield's 'biggest-ever' whodunnit begins.

The character, played by Calum Lill, was last seen on-screen at the end of September after he evaded court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

His horrific grooming crimes were set to come to light. It was assumed he had taken his own life after he was set to face court for buying the drugs that prompted Lauren Bolton to go into early labour with their son, Frankie.

DS Lisa Swain and Joel's ex-fiancee Dee-Dee Bailey teamed up to bring the solicitor down after it was revealed earlier this year that he was Lauren's 'secret boyfriend' and was behind her disappearance and presumed murder after he was seen attacking her with a chair leg.

Luckily, the teen survived and returned to Weatherfield over the summer. However, she was quickly confronted by Joel and through flashbacks, fans discovered what really happened between the pair - showing Joel had groomed Lauren, giving her money in return for sex, before he lashed out when she tried to end things and threatened to tell Dee-Dee everything he had done.

But in scenes aired at the end of September, viewers saw Joel not show up to his plea hearing and a warrant was issued for his arrest. After transferring money to Lauren and his ex-wife Emily, it was believed Joel may end up taking his own life - something Dee-Dee didn't believe.

It was then during Monday night's (October 14), Corrie that viewers saw three lads at a riverbank spotting a body floating in the water. PC Craig Tinker soon approached Swain and Kit Greeb and announced that they’ve found Joel's body and as the news was broken to the likes of Lauren and Dee-Dee, it was Kit who later confirmed Joel was dead when he went in the water, turning the case into a murder investigation.

It's during Wednesday's (October 16) Corrie that Kit reveals to Lisa that Joel died from two blows to the head, inflicted by a heavy weapon, most likely a crowbar.

So Lisa is subsequently shocked to discover from Yasmeen that she threw Mason out because he had a crowbar. Betsy is intrigued when her mum tells her to stay away from Mason and it's not long before she warns him that the police are onto him.

Behind the factory, Mason disposes of the crowbar in a bin but is caught in the act by Kit. Dee-Dee explains to Ronnie that the police believe Joel was attacked with a crowbar.

But Corrie fans don't think that Mason, or Ronnie Bailey who is also set to be among the first to be in the frame, are responsible for Joel's demise, which will eventually be revealed through flashbacks in the ITV soap, and it's someone much closer to home for Joel.

They got into an argument. Joel confessed about doing something in the past. His dad fought with him in a fit of rage. #Corrie."
