Exactly where and when snow is expected in Greater Manchester hour by hour according to Met Office

A Met Office forecast has revealed exactly where and when snow is expected to fall in Greater Manchester as a cold snap hits next week.

Almost the entire north of England has been hit by a yellow weather warning for snow and ice, including Greater Manchester. The warning comes into effect at 7pm on Monday night (November 18) until 10am on Tuesday (November 19).

The Met Office says: "An area of snow may bring disruption to a central swathe of the UK during Monday night and Tuesday morning."

Forecasters warn that the weather could lead to a 'small chance' of power cuts, travel delays and roads becoming impassable. The full warning covers all of the North except some coastal areas. Northern parts of the Midlands, much of North Wales and southern Scotland are also affected by the weather alert.

Here is a breakdown of when and where snow could hit each borough in Greater Manchester:

Manchester

Temperatures are expected to plummet early next week, with lows of around 1C on Monday morning. It is unlikely to get hotter than 5C amid the cold blast.

Snow is forecast from around 7pm on Monday, with temperatures plummeting to around 2C overnight. There is a 90 per cent chance of rain and snow until around 3am on Tuesday.

Tuesday morning will be largely clear skies and sunny - with lows of around 1C.

Oldham

In Oldham, a yellow weather warning for snow and ice will also be in place. It will be a very cold start on Monday, with temperatures hitting lows of 0C from around 7am.

Snow and rain is expected from around 5pm on Monday according to Met Office forecasters, with a 70 per cent chance of precipitation from 6pm.

Heavy cloud cover and snow is expected overnight until around 3am, when the skies will clear and become sunny.

Bury

It will be a similarly cold morning in Bury on Monday, with temperatures of around 2C as the region wakes up. Conditions will be cold and slightly overcast throughout the day.

There is a 70 per cent chance of snow from around 6pm on Monday, with an increased chance of the white stuff overnight and temperatures remaining around 2C, with a brighter yet crisp start to Tuesday.

Salford

In Salford, temperatures will hit almost freezing on Monday morning. Forecasters predict it will be around 1C from 6am, with partly sunny conditions throughout much of the day.

There is chance of rain from around 5pm, with possible snow forecast from 7pm onwards. There will be a mix of snow and rain overnight until around 3am on Tuesday.

Wigan

Wigan will be slightly warmer overnight on Sunday into Monday, with highs of around 6C. Monday morning will see temperatures plummet to around 1C from 8C, with overcast conditions.

There is a 70 per cent chance of rain from around 6pm, before skies will become heavier, with snow predicted from around 7pm. It will be around 2C overnight into Tuesday, with further chance of snow.

Bolton

It will be a chilly start to Monday morning in Bolton, with temperatures dropping to around 1C. It will be partly sunny for much of the morning, until skies become more overcast from midday.

There is a 60 per cent chance of precipitation from 5pm, with possible snow from 6pm and temperatures of around 3C. Heavier snow could fall from 8pm onwards as temperatures drop to freezing.

Stockport

Stockport also has a chance of seeing some snow on Monday evening. Throughout the day, temperatures will be between 2 and 4C with partially sunny skies.

There is a 90 per cent chance of some snow falling from around 7pm on Monday, with overcast skies and temperatures of around 3C. The snow is expected to stop from midnight on Tuesday, with heavy rain predicted overnight and into Tuesday morning.

Rochdale

In Rochdale it will be a sunnier start; with clear skies from around 8am on Monday. It will be cold however, with temperatures of 0C expected.

It will be partially cloudy throughout the morning before becoming overcast by early afternoon. There is chance of snow and rain from around 6pm, with a 90 per cent likelihood of heavier snow from 5pm onwards, which is expected to continue overnight until around 3am on Tuesday.

Tameside

There is also a chance of snow in Tameside on Monday evening. Conditions will be much the same as the rest of the region throughout Monday, with lows of around 1C and partly cloudy conditions.

Heavier clouds will form on Monday afternoon, paving the way for a chance of snow from 5pm. The white stuff is forecast to become heavier overnight until the early hours of Tuesday.

Trafford

Snow is also forecast for Trafford - but not until much later. It will be largely cloudy and overcast throughout Monday, with slightly warmer temperatures of around 5C.

Heavy rain is forecast from 6pm onwards, however snow could also hit at around 8pm. There will be a mix of snow and rain overnight until around 3am on Tuesday.
