ITV I’m A Celebrity fans call for trials to be scrapped as they spot show’s ‘refreshing’ change
by Liv Clarke · Manchester Evening NewsI’m A Celebrity viewers have praised the ITV show for making a “refreshing” change after several camp members opened up about their “struggles.” Fans said that they “love” the cast after Tulisa Contostavlos, Danny Jones and Oti Mabuse all shared their life experiences during Wednesday night’s show.
Things got emotional in the jungle as the celebrities discussed topics relating to mental health and struggles with fame. Tulisa spoke to Oti about a drugs scandal she experienced in 2013, when she was arrested for allegedly supplying £800 worth of cocaine.
It turned out that she had been set up by a News of the World reporter and although the case went to court, it collapsed after he was accused of tampering with evidence and lying in the witness box. Tulisa always said she was innocent but it was a challenging year for the singer. She told Otis that “her life fell apart”.
Meanwhile McFly’s Danny revealed that he’s been in therapy since he was 19 for anxiety, becoming visibly emotional and said he would “freak out” on live TV. Tulisa praised him for opening up, while Oti said that it’s really important for boys to talk about their struggles.

The Dancing On Ice Judge then went on to talk about her brother who committed suicide when he was 16. She said: “I think if he had spoken to someone about what he was feeling, it would’ve been a different turnout.”

@434norris said:” having celebrities opening up on national tv about their struggles, speaking about grief, mental health and suicide, it’s so important and so refreshing to see. i love this cast sm.”
Some viewers even suggested that the trials should be scrapped in favour of more conversations between campmates. @NannyBobbins said: “Loving everyone on 2024 @imacelebrity #ImACeleb , do we really have to make them do trials or can they just let out their problems and bond.” @mr_chambers_ added: “Can they do away with all the trials and just show us the celebs talking about their lives? - it’s so much more enjoyable. The trials are old hat now…”
