Strictly Come Dancing fans have 'never been so sure' over who will win the 2024 series following this weekend's Halloween special. The spooky festivities arrived early in the ballroom on Saturday night (October 26).

Those watching the Halloween special unfold were left screaming at Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke's incredible joint effort as the twins from The Shining while Motsi Mabuse came dressed as classic Disney villain Cruella de Vil - and head judge Shirley Ballas appeared as Hocus Pocus' Winifred Sanderson.

But it was all about the 11 remaining couples as they hoped for a treat rather than a trick as week six of the BBC One dance contest got underway.

It was Miranda star Sarah Hadland and EastEnders’ Jamie Borthwick who jointly topped the leaderboard after a dramatic evening of performances, earning a total of 38 points out of a possible 40 from the judges.

But it was Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell who kicked things off with a lively samba to Stayin’ Alive by The Bee Gees. Dressed in a sparkly suit and frazzled wig, the stand-up grooved along the floor in between gravestones, Chris managed to pick up a score of 26 out of a possible 40.

However, during his chat with Claudia Winkleman, Chris didn't shy away from the fact that the Samba had been the dance of death for a number of the 2024 series' couples so far, and recognised that going first has also seen some of his fellow competitors end up in the bottom-two.

The 47-year-old said comedian said: "We've lost four people so far this series, two of them on Sambas. And we've had four dance offs and three of them have had people who've gone on first so the maths is against us this week."

But during Sunday night's (October 27) results show, it was confirmed that Chris and had escaped the dance-off and had made it through to week seven of Strictly's 20th anniversary series, while Dr Punam Krishan and Gorka Marquez became this year's Halloween casualties.

Strictly fans were quick to take to social media about Chris and Dianne breaking this year's 'curse' and they quickly thought it means they could be the ones lifting the Glitterball trophy this year as they shared their relief at his continuation in the competition.

@tvreality93 said: "Right result shall we just give Chris the trophy now I’ve never felt soo sure he’s gonna win #strictly." @Marina_Bailey commented: "So glad Chris is through." @Mammabell15 added: "So glad Chris was safe."
