Coronation Street fans 'rumble' Cassie Plummer's downfall amid Ken Barlow drug storyline

Coronation Street fans think they have rumbled Cassie Plummer's downfall - or more importantly, who will be behind it. As viewers of the ITV soap know, the character is currently drugging Ken Barlow while pretending to care for him.

Actress Claire Sweeney made her debut in the role after Cassie tracked down her mum to the street, but when Evelyn Plummer spotted her, she ignored her. Later Evelyn received a call and was seen hurrying into A&E reception, explaining that her daughter had been admitted as an emergency after she overdosed.

Cassie later revealed her real identity to her son Tyrone Dobbs and has since made herself part of his and his children's lives but was quick to ruffle feathers on the street. She seemingly settled down and was getting on with her family but now has taken to causing friction in another household - the Barlows.

In more recent months, Cassie has found herself in the fold at No.1 Coronation Street, having become Ken's carer after he fell down the stairs and fractured his pelvis. But when he eventually decided it was time to let her go, Cassie took drastic action and was seen spiking Ken's drinks.

Things then took a dramatic turn when Ken was rushed to the hospital, but Cassie escaped when Tracy Barlow was blamed for mixing up Ken's medication, which she dropped on the floor. Cassie has since changed the medication she's using to spike Ken's drinks and the pair are growing closer as they spend more time together.

During Monday night's (December 30) Corrie, Cassie and Ken were preparing for a trip to watch the ballet but as they sat at the dining table, an emotional Cassie claimed she was upset because she'd racked up a credit card debt buying Christmas presents for her family. Cassie told Ken she was keeping it a secret from her loved ones, but was struggling to pay what she owed.

Ken decided to help Cassie out telling her he'd give her a temporary loan that she could pay back to him. The Weatherfield stalwart was later seen instructing his granddaughter Amy to make the transaction, but she couldn't hide her her concern when he explained the situation to her.

Now, Corrie fans think it will be Amy who exposes what Cassie is up to. @emmapeel58 said: "Amy will suss her out!" @mgtlawrie55 replied: "I just said that Amy will get it sorted!" @OliReading added: "#Corrie Amy is sharp."
