BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Chris McCausland given semi-final boost as pro dancer speaks out

Chris McCausland has been given a boost ahead of Strictly Come Dancing's semi-final as one of the show's former professional dancers spoke out.

The comedian and his dance partner Dianne Buswell made it through to the penultimate week of the BBC One dance contest after their performance during the quarter-final of the show last Saturday night (November 30), during which they performed a quickstep to You’re The Top from Anything Goes.

It was later confirmed that Chris, who is Strictly's first-ever blind contestant, and his professional dance partner Dianne had made it through to Strictly 2024's semi-final, which takes place this Saturday night (December 7), with the five remaining couples hoping for a place in next weekend's final.

All of the couples will perform two dances each, with it confirmed that Chris and Dianne will dance the Charleston to When You’re Smiling by The Blue Vipers Of Brooklyn as well as a Viennese Waltz to Nothing Else Matters by Metallica.

Now, former Strictly pro Erin Boag has spoken out with praise for Chris. While she said that Chris is 'not the best of dancers technically', he 'will be a hard one to beat' as viewers really love him, before dubbing him 'one of the best additions' to the hit dance show ever.

Speaking on behalf of Slingo, Erin said: "Chris has continued to surprise me, he is going to be a hard one to beat, through the public vote. He’s not the best of dancers technically, but you have to give credit where credit is due. For him to do what he’s done as a fully abled person is difficult, but how he mentally keeps the whole routine in his head by feel, by trust, is another."

She added: "He will come out on top of the show, I will be surprised if he doesn’t win the show. He’s not the best dancer on the show but he feels the most deserving in so many ways. He did a Waltz a few weeks ago and it brought tears to my eyes. It was incredible. He’s got to keep doing what he’s doing.

"Dianne has to keep coming up with incredible routines and ideas. He is a definite hit to the final. Dianne has done an incredible job, and as she said, it’s taught her a lot about herself and about patience and being patient. Sometimes you don’t have to be phenomenal to be memorable."
