Strictly Come Dancing's Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal

BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans make Pete Wicks observation over Blackpool survival after 'lethal' move

by · Manchester Evening News

Strictly Come Dancing fans were quick to talk about Pete Wicks as it was revealed he'd made it through to another week after an unexpected weekend.

The show returned on Saturday night (November 16) for its annual live show from Blackpool as the eight remaining couples performed at the resort's iconic Tower Ballroom.

Strictly celebrated its 20th year by opening with the professional dancers dancing to the Pet Shop Boys performing a medley of their hits, including It’s A Sin, Suburbia and What Have I Done To Deserve This before the celebrities and their professional dance partners took part in week nine of the 2024 series.

But when it came to Pete's turn to take to the world-famous sprung floor, it was his costume choice that got viewers at home talking. The reality star and podcast host and his dance partner Jowita Przystal danced a cha cha to I’m Too Sexy by Right Said Fred.

Pete pretended to be a train inspector before tearing off his jacket to reveal a pink shirt and tight pink trousers. At one point he lay on top of the other dancers and later danced with his back to the audience. He then finished the routine wearing a pink fluffy jacket.

Judge Shirley Ballas called the performance "very entertaining, I don’t think I’ll forget this evening for as long as I live", and praised the "good isolation, clean neckline". Motsi Mabuse told Pete she "loved it for all the wrong reasons", and "wished the dancing had supported it".

However, Craig Revel Horwood commented: "You fought the dance, un-coordinated, behind the beat, bent leg but huge fun." As the couple received 27 points out of a possible 40, it left them bottom of the leaderboard on the night, and Craig's decision to score them a four was branded 'lethal' by some.

But the public got behind them as Strictly fans saw Pete and Jowita safely make it through to week ten of Strictly's 20th-anniversary series during Sunday night's (November 17) results show.

And it's fair to say it took some by surprise as the latest dance-off results were confirmed. @AbbyWalk19 said: "Right result. But one question, who the heck is voting for Pete?!"@disder78 commented: "Right result tonight. Pete must have one hell of a following to avoid the dance off!" @katielufcx added: "I quite like Pete but I’m surprised he’s safe. It wasn’t his best night and I know a lot of people think he’s quite arrogant so I didn’t think the song choice would do him any favours."

Others shared their delight at him getting through. @tvreality93 said: "Soo happy pete and jowita are though stitched up tonight #strictlyspoiler." @siann_xoxo added: "I'm so glad Pete’s through! C’mon."
