Fed up drivers are turning to a £37 gadget that de-ices car windshields in seconds
by Harriet Morphy-Morris · Manchester Evening NewsIf this week has taught us anything, it’s that the UK weather is extremely unpredictable. After a week of heavy rain and snow across the country, shoppers are turning to this incredible little gadget that will have your car’s windshield roadworthy in a matter of seconds.
The QCHMM Electric Ice Scraper is currently on offer at Amazon for 11% off, taking the price down to £36.97. If you’re a Prime member, you can add an additional 10% off coupon, taking that price down even lower.
When you’re rushing out the door in the morning, there’s nothing worth than realising you need to spend an extra few minutes de-icing your windshield. Unless you want to risk cracking your windshield with the risky boiling water method, this handy gadget could be the answer to your problems.
The electric scraper deals with tough ice with its rotating plastic blades, offering a faster alternative to spraying de-icer and waiting for the ice to melt. The light pressure of the device gets rid of the stubborn ice without scratching the glass - and can also be used on the side windows.
Similar to the viral £64 Karcher electric ice scraper - which is very limitied stock at Amazon - the QCHMM option is cheaper and does a very similar job. "Scraping without muscle power" said one Amazon shopper in the opening of their review, where they rated the product a full five-stars. They said: "The electric ice scraper is time-saving and made it much easier to clean the windows in the morning.
"I was particularly impressed by how quickly and thoroughly the rotating disc works. Even thick layers of ice were removed in a very short time." While a second shopper said it's helped them travel faster in the mornings: "I unfortunately don't have a garage or carport, I always have to scrape my car out. So far, I've simply used a normal ice scraper, but if you do it every day, it gets really annoying.
"I then discovered this electric device probably solves the problem. Actually, the principle is also very simple. Then you can simply sweep it off the window with a whisk."

Out of all the positive reviews, it is worth noting that one shopper did say that they found the device 'uncomfortable' to use. They didn't go into too much detail, but this may be due to the pressure felt in the hand when using the rotating device. Alternatively, there are other options to look at over Debenhams.
It's not electric, but the £10 Loops Ice Scraper is proving popular, too, thanks to its attached insulated glove. If not, thermal windshield covers, like this £8 option at Argos, are another option to cut the time spent scraping off ice - layering on the dashboard overnight helps keep the termperature of the glass up overnight, preventing it from freezing.
