King Charles has been pictured waving to well-wishers as he left an annual church service in Sandringham this morning.

The monarch was spotted on his Norfolk estate leaving St Mary Magdalene Church wearing a brown tweet coat and holding an umbrella. It comes just days after it was revealed his cancer treatment is expected to carry on into the new year, almost a year on from his diagnosis and hospital trips where he was treated for an enlarged prostate.

Sources close to the Royals revealed treatment had been "moving in a positive direction" and things are expected to carry on as usual due to the treatment cycle of the condition. No more details about Charles's condition have been revealed after his diagnosis back in February. At the time, Buckingham Palace asked for privacy and only divulged the monarch has a "form of cancer".

For a couple of months after news broke, around April time, the King cancelled his face-to-face public duties but has since made appearances in France for D-Day commemorations. He's also hosted a state visit for the Emperor of Japan and toured Australia and Samoa with the Queen - all while under undergoing treatment for cancer.

Both Charles and Camilla will be hosting several family embers at Sandringham on Christmas Day, with the Prince of Wales revealing there's set to be up to 45 people in the room on the big day.

Among those, Princess Beatrice will be joining the celebrations after changing her festive travel plans due to medical advice. Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting their second child due in early spring and were expected to spend the festive period overseas with his family, but after medical advice are understood to have been advised not to travel long distances.

Beatrice’s father the Duke of York – the King’s brother – is staying away from Sandringham amid the controversy surrounding his links to an alleged Chinese spy.
