Showers are used pretty much every day and, after a while, limescale can build up. This is far from pleasant to look at but it isn't always easy to get rid of.

Lucky for us, a savvy mum has shared her cost effective hack to eliminate limescale. And you only need two ingredients that most households already have. Nea Johanna posted her brilliant tip on TikTok and it really couldn't be easier. "How to remove limescale ecologically with lemon & salt," the mum captioned the video.

First, the cleaning expert slices a lemon in half and then adds salt on top. She then scrubs the limescale with the lemon continuously for several seconds, as reported by The Cool Down. The mum then rinses off the area with water before wiping it down with a microfiber cloth. In before and after pictures, you really can see the difference with the washed area now limescale free.

The glass around the area is not only much cleaner but also clearer and shinier. What's more, Nea revealed in the comments that she also uses the method to clean the tiles in the bathroom. "Vinegar works too," she added. Limescale is often an issue for those who live in an area with hard water, with watermarks and chalky white deposits left in your sink, shower or toilet after water evaporates. It's often found in your bathroom and kitchen appliances so regular cleaning is advised.

While lemon juice is a handy ingredient to clean limescale, white vinegar works just as well. Other TikTok users have already demonstrated how you can return an old-looking dirty shower into a decent state. Amanda of @amanda_cleans fame spoke of how she hitched a bag of vinegar onto her shower head with a rubber band, giving it an hour-long acidic soak. Amanda's viral cleaning hack left viewers in awe after her video, where she spruces up a grimy shower head with basic white vinegar, soared to more than 7.9 million views and garnered 276,000 likes. As Amanda wiped down the bag soaked appliance, it shone like new, using "regular white vinegar like you would use for cooking".
