by Jasmine Allday · The MirrorGood Morning Britain fans were left divided on Tuesday after the ITV show made a major change.
Today, main hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls headed to Washington, D.C., to present the show from there, while Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway were in the studio as normal alongside news presenter Ranvir Singh.
The coverage focused on the United States election, and fans were stunned to see the team report on the weather in the US. One wrote, "Like we’re interested in American weather . #GMB," with another adding, "We do not need USA weather ….jeez #GMB."
Others questioned why Susanna Reid and Ed Balls travelled all the way to America.
One wrote: "There's not even one thing that they will be to say or to demonstrate in Washington that couldn't have been done better in GMB's London studio #gmb."
Someone else asked: "Are we watching Good Morning Britain or Good Morning America!? #GMB."
At the end of yesterday's episode, Ed and Susanna confirmed they were heading straight for the airport.
On the show, Ed said, "Susanna, grab your bags; we're about to go. " Susanna urged people to tune in to the show tomorrow, live from the US, adding, "Tune into Good Morning Britain tomorrow live from Washington."
Susanna confirmed to Radio Times that they would be travelling over there for the US election. She said: "Ed Balls and I are flying straight out to Washington DC after hosting Good Morning Britain on Monday 4 November. We'll be soaking up the atmosphere. Then we’ll be on the ground, presenting the election results programme on the Wednesday morning."
Susanna has been a regular presenter on the show for years, originally alongside Piers Morgan. When he left, Susanna teamed up with multiple male presenters, including Ed Balls and Richard Madeley, with whom she regularly presents. Kate Garraway is also a regular presenter on the show, either as an anchor herself or as a news reporter, a role held by Ranvir today.
*Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
