Strawberry moon lights up sky in incredible worldwide display - see amazing images
Incredible new pictures have captured the Strawberry Moon as it dropped to the lowest point of its arc through the night's sky - creating breath taking images around the world
The Strawberry Moon was seen to appear so large that it was able to almost completely eclipse St Paul's Cathedral in London. The size is largely due to its position perched on the horizon, which experts believe makes it seem much larger than it is when compared to other objects occupying the same plane.(Image:Marcin Nowak/LNP)
A photo taken at the Avebury World Heritage Site in Wiltshire shows the Moon as it traced an arc across the sky, showing how it changes depending on its position. The Strawberry Moon is set to remain visible into this evening, and bright for at least another day after it drifts slightly higher.(Image:Josh Dury / SWNS)
The Strawberry Moon is a phenomenon that is not entirely restricted to the UK, with photographers in Prague, Czechia, able to capture its size through the Jan Zizka statue at National Monument at Vitkov in Prague. There is no specific part of the world where it is the most visible.(Image:MARTIN DIVISEK/EPA/Shutterstock)
In Ankara, Turkey, a yellowed Strawberry Moon cut a stunning figure against high-rise buildings when it was its most visible in the evening on June 29. That deep orange glow comes from the Earth's Lunar neighbour looming at a point that of particular thickness in the planet's atmosphere, meaning light is reflected differently.(Image:Anadolu via Getty Images)
