ITV assured contestants the famous “jungle shower” was being phased out, GK Barry has revealed.

A number of stars have voiced their reluctance to being filmed in the shower this year- including Tulisa Contostavlos and Oti Mabuse. In recent years, stars such as Myleene Klass, Kate Garraway and Katie Price have all been filmed. In Myleene’s case in particular, her white bikini in 2006 went down in show history.

But GK, whose real name is Grace, said that she had a conversation with ITV ahead of the show.

“They said to me that they don’t really do that anymore,” she said, adding that she had bought bikinis anyway in case.

But two stars have been adamant that the shower this time around is not for them. Tulisa even described it as a "little cringy" and she won't be playing up to the cameras in there during the new series.

She said: "I think because on a show like this, if you're standing in the shower, everyone's very aware that they're being watched.

"So it's like, if you overdo it, it just feels mad cringy to me. I don't feel like Myleene, years ago, had that in mind. She just in the shower in a white bikini. She didn't know she was going to start this whole big wow. Do you know what I mean Now it is has become a thing. If I went in there, dressed in red, giving it something, everyone's gonna be like 'Oh, come on Tulisa, we know what you're doing'.

"So it just feels a little bit cringy to me. Listen, I'm springing straight black bikinis. I'm just gonna chill out. There'll be no hip swivels for me. I can just get up with a shower and get out."

Fellow star Oti agreed. She said: “I don't intend on being that gal in the papers. That's not me. I'm probably going to wear a full blown out costume with some trousers. No, I haven't even, I haven't planned for it.”

Tulisa comments follow on from executive producer Olly Nash admitting the shower is not longer a key feature of the show. He explained: "The last person that used to shower regularly naked in the nude was Brian Paddock. I can't even remember what year that was, but he would stand there facing outwards, and it was quite a confronting sight.

"The only other person really in the last few years has been Nigel Farage, who just carried on anyway, but obviously he faced the wall. It's funny, they[celebs] have all asked about that this year, but most people just cover themselves up. And it's absolutely changed. I think the whole world has changed, hasn't it A lot over the years, and people are less likely to get in there and want to flaunt themselves.

"They ask can you shower nude, do people shower nude. And you go, you're absolutely welcome. Obviously, you need to be respectful of everybody around you. But the choice is yours. Most people don't. Most people wear swimmers. Most people face the wall anyway."
