Woman's disgust as she finally finds solution to remove 'gross stains' in toilet
The woman was left impressed by the cleaning hack, calling it "magic" - but others have warned the product can be dangerous and to use with caution. People are told to approach with care
by Liam Gilliver, Rom Preston-Ellis · The MirrorMrs Hinch fans are buzzing about a nifty trick for banishing pesky limescale in a flash.
Tired of hard water leaving unsightly, chalky deposits on taps, shower screens or loos, this method has come as a godsend for many. One woman was so chuffed with the incredible results she achieved on her loo – plagued by 'gross stains' since moving in – that she couldn't help but share her discovery on the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook page.
"We'd tried literally everything, or so I thought," she revealed. "A few of you recommended Spirits of Salt. I can't believe it. Poured it in and watched as it literally dissolved the limescale stains before my eyes.
"Closed the door with all the windows open in the bathroom for an hour, and this is the end result. I am so chuffed, thank you all so much for your help! " While many group members cheered on the success story, cautionary tales also emerged. "[It's] good stuff but it is hydrochloric acid," a user chimed in.
"Be careful when using it. It can be dangerous." Others recommended making sure you ventilate the room well when using the item, while one woman warned it could 'burn your nostrils'.
Priced at around £3.50 from retailers, Max Strength Spirit of Salt is 'stronger than standard cleaners' and can be used for 'descaling, cleaning, and degreasing'.
For those wanting to try the cleaning tip out themselves, simply pour half a bottle (250ml) around the toilet bowl and leave it for 15 minutes. For tougher-to-remove limescale, you can leave the product on overnight. Flush the toilet with plenty of cold water before using it again.
