by Danielle Kate Wroe, Rom Preston-Ellis · The MirrorIf you fancy whipping up a storm in the kitchen, look no further than Mary Berry's four-ingredient flapjacks for that perfect homemade treat.
They're so incredibly simple to create, all without eating into your precious 'me time' at the weekend. Plus, there's a good chance you've already got what you need sitting in your pantry. Pair them with a steaming brew and voila - pure bliss.
Ideal for including in your festive spread or just as a pick-me-up, these oaty delights are best served straight from your own oven. Good to Know raves about them, pointing out they're "so easy to prepare and only takes 30 minutes to bake."
Ready for the recipe? It yields 24 satisfying squares of joy. You'll want to kick things off by lightly greasing a roasting tin or a shallow cake tin that measures roughly 20cm by 30cm. Next up, gently warm butter, syrup, and sugar in a pan until everything has nicely melted together.
Following that, get the oats thoroughly acquainted with your sweet, gooey mixture. The final act involves transferring this oat concoction to the prepped tin, smoothing it down with a palette knife, and popping them in a preheated oven at 180C (160C fan, gas mark four) for around half an hour.
Afterward, give them a brief rest in the tin for a mere five minutes before setting them aside to cool completely. Once they're mostly solid, with a slight softness to them, slice them into 24 bite-sized servings, and prepare to savour them. Mary suggests that these oaty bites are best enjoyed warm but can also be stored in an airtight cake tin for later consumption.
She also "recommends keeping a slice of bread in the container as this helps stop the bars from losing moisture and becoming dry."
